Until now, the biggest innovations in vehicle safety have focused on making vehicles smarter and protecting drivers and passengers in an accident—but people and their driving habits provide the greatest potential for preventing accidents. That’s why we set out to develop a tool that would prevent distracted driving by helping teens become better drivers.
The result is SMARTwheel™, the first intelligent steering wheel cover that uses a patented sensing technology to encourage safe hand position with real-time feedback, while delivering teachable insights via Bluetooth to our smartphone app. It’s a high-tech solution that makes it simple for drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and their focus on the road.
SMARTwheel™ was featured and received an offer on the reality TV show Shark Tank, pilot tested at MIT and it has been endorsed by President Barack Obama, and the former U.S. Secretary of Transportation, Ray LaHood. And it’s only the beginning. We’re committed to developing novel technologies that solve safety problems on the road, in our homes, at work, and everywhere in between.
